<p>Ben has been named as NBL player of the month for October 2012. Ben has worked with me for a couple of years now, and in particular we trained twice a week in the off season this year. Ben has stated many times it is making a huge difference to how he is playing this season &amp; how well his body is coping with the training / playing schedule under new coach Shane Heal.</p>
<p>Ben has a wonderful work ethic, a wonderful natural athletic ability &amp; he works hard to play hard come game time&#8230;&amp; it shows both in points scored and many other stats that get evaluated.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s quite a lovely thing for me to be a part of Ben&#8217;s preparatory / training / recovery process and contribute positively to his game. I get a real kick out of being able to make a difference in the outcomes for elite athletes. To be able to tweak how they move, how they think about moving, get them to understand it, feel it &amp; then integrate it. To then watch them fire up and bring it all together into success &#8211; it&#8217;s an absolute honour!</p>
<p>We worked on some very specific goals in the off season together this year to improve bio mechanics at the hips &amp; to improve his integration of strength &amp; stability in the hopes that would translate onto the court in an ability to stave off the defensive effort to bump him out of position. To facilitate a super readiness &amp; an improved ability to tune into his body <em>(we included some nutrition work too)</em>.</p>
<p>Within just 6 sessions <em>(bearing in mind we had worked together throughout the previous season, and this training program wasn&#8217;t having to compete with on court training or games)</em> we were achieving exactly those results. In Ben&#8217;s own words, he reported back to me that he was able to maintain his composure more than usual and make the shot, even while the bigs were doing their best to bump him <em>(or words to that effect)</em><em> </em></p>
<p><em>[this assessment on the impact of our Pilates work, was made by Ben while scrimmaging with team mates in the off season through out our program] </em></p>
<p>The increase in core stability &amp; strength <em>(along with the body awareness, the ability to breathe efficiently  &amp; the confidence that comes with the integration of all these components)</em> has allowed his body to work to an even greater level &amp; recover better than he did before including Hudson Barry Pilates into his regime.</p>
<p>I am very proud to be considered a valuable part of that process for Ben. I am by no means the only contribution to his results, but very happy that he (&amp; I) both acknowledge that it has made a tangible difference to how he feels &amp; moves on the court, to his recovery and maintaining a problem free body under the current work load &amp; in his confidence in what he can achieve.</p>
<p>Congratulations Ben. You do us proud!</p>
